Privacy policy
Rent Hub is operated by Arvion Technology in Sydney, Australia. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It covers the Rent Hub Android app, the iPhone app when it ships, and the web console at this site.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password. A phone number is optional and stays private from other users.
- Listing content: the title, address, suburb, rent, bond, photos, description and optional soundtrack that you choose to publish.
- Messages: the messages you send through Rent Hub, so the other person can read them and so we can handle reports.
- Activity: saved homes, saved searches, inspection bookings, reports and notifications.
- Verification: for an identity check, we record a document reference and the outcome. Biometric material is not stored by Rent Hub.
- Technical data: basic request logs, device type, app version and approximate location derived from the suburb you search or list. We do not track your precise location in the background.
- Public Facebook group content: when a public post from the Landlords and Tenants Direct group is imported, we keep the post text, author name, media links, timestamp and permalink so the listing can credit the original post.
How we use it
- To run the marketplace: show listings, match searches, send messages and manage inspections.
- To keep the marketplace safe: verify identities, moderate reports, scan listings for discriminatory wording and prevent fraud.
- To run the Facebook group sync: parse public posts, queue them for an admin and publish only after approval.
- To send the notifications you have asked for, such as a new message or an inspection booking.
- To provide support and to meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who can see what
- Listing details are public, including the suburb, rent and photos you publish. Your phone number is not shown in a listing.
- Synced Facebook group listings show the original author name and a link to the original post, because the post was public in the group.
- Messages are visible to the people in the conversation and to Rent Hub administrators when a report is reviewed.
- We use service providers for hosting, databases, payments, identity checks and messaging. They process data on our instructions.
- We may disclose information if required by law, or as part of a business transfer.
Facebook group sync
Posts from the public Landlords and Tenants Direct Facebook group are imported into a review queue and are not published automatically. An admin approves, rejects or re-parses each post. If you wrote a post and want it removed from Rent Hub, contact support and we will remove the listing and the queued post.
Storage and security
We use access controls, encrypted connections and reasonable technical safeguards to protect your data. No online service can promise perfect security, so keep your password private and tell us if you notice anything unusual.
Retention and deletion
We keep account and listing data while your account is active. Listings can be archived or deleted from your dashboard. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information, except where we need to keep a record for fraud prevention, dispute resolution or the law.
Your choices
- You can edit your profile, listings, photos and soundtrack at any time.
- You can archive or delete a listing from the dashboard.
- You can ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it.
- You can opt out of non-essential notifications in the app settings.
If you think we have handled your information incorrectly, contact us first. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) about a privacy complaint.
Children
Rent Hub is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
